The Shopping Spree Continues

It appears that House Democrats aren’t the only ones sprucing up their State House offices on the taxpayers dime. According to the Mobile Press Register, 10 Democrat state senators spent almost $40,000 of taxpayer dollars redecorating their legislative offices. Some of the items they purchased include:

“. . . an $800 acrylic painting of tulips, a $2,999 sofa, a $499 mirror, a $599 rug, a $1,305 cocktail table and a $2,070 desk, according to Senate documents reviewed by the Press-Register.”

Coupled with the $20,000 House members recently spent on interior designers, it sounds like MTV should take their cameras to the State House and shoot an episode of Cribs.

The paper noted that no Republican member of the House or Senate made similar expenditures.
